Dear Parents,
This week’s lesson includes two accounts of Jesus’ miracles. The first account comes from Luke 5:1-11. In this passage, Jesus encourages His disciple Peter to go out into deep water and let down his fishing nets to catch fish. Peter and his partners have fished all night without success. But, in obedience to Jesus’ command, they let their nets down again.
Miraculously, dozens of fish swim into their nets, so many that they fear their boat will sink! Peter understands that Jesus is much more powerful than any ordinary man!
The second account comes from Matthew 14:22-33. This passage tells of a stormy night on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples are in a boat, but Jesus is not with them. Suddenly, Jesus appears walking on the water! The disciples are frightened; who can this be?
But Peter summons the courage to ask Jesus if he could walk out on the lake with Him. Jesus allows Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. All is well at first, but then Peter takes his eyes off Jesus and notices the wind and waves. Suddenly, he’s filled with fear. He has to call out for Jesus to save him from drowning! Peter and Jesus arrive safely at the boat, and all on the boat worship Jesus as the Son of God.
These two Bible truths have a lot to say about acting in faith. When you first held your newborn child, you probably realized that he or she did not come with an instruction manual! You may have had fears or doubts about your child’s future, but you embraced your child and stepped out in faith that you could be a loving and effective parent.
As you place your faith in Jesus and take your concerns to Him in prayer, He will give you the ability to be an excellent parent! Keep your eyes on Him; He will see you through.
Thank you for helping your child to learn the Bible truth!
