Dear Parents,
This week your child is learning that Jesus took care of the disciples even when they were in the middle of a terrible storm. This scriptural account can be found in Matthew 8:23-27.
Just as the disciples were fearful when faced with a storm, children can be afraid too. Sometimes their fears are rational, such as being afraid of big dogs or lightning storms. But other times, children’s fears may stem from their imagination. Talk to your child to determine what prompted the fear and help your child to cope with the fear. Reassure your child that Jesus is always with him or her.
Isn’t it wonderful to know that the Lord is with you and that no problem or concern is beyond His control? If the wind and waves are stilled at His command, then nothing is beyond His power – not health, finances, or difficult relationships. Nothing! Whatever your circumstances may be today or tomorrow, remember Christ is always there in the midst of the storm with you.
If the storms of life are bearing down on you today, why not call out to Him? He’ll rescue you just as He rescued the disciples long ago. It is a wonderful reminder that no matter how frightening or out of control circumstances may seem, Christ is always with you and able to give you peace.
Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in the education of your child.
Things to talk about at home:
- Jesus told the storm to be still, and the wind and waves obeyed him. Could you make the storm obey?
- Why did the storm obey Jesus?
- When you are afraid, can you trust Jesus to help
